Data Services

We have an entire team of experts committed to getting the data you need.

We have 8 years of experience finding, preparing, and securely delivering health data from Michigan Medicine. Let us help deliver your data so you can focus on your research!

Data Consultation

We have consulted with over 200 U-M researchers to provide data solutions that support their research.

Our Data Solutions Team is available to work with U-M researchers to define data requests and to determine the optimal solution for providing deidentified data to support their research.

We’ll meet with you to understand your request and to make sure that we provide access to the data you need. We’ll even walk you through and demo deidentified DataDirect and deidentified RDW, our self-service tools that provide access to Michigan Medicine health data and MGI cohorts.

“AI & Digital Health Innovation has been invaluable in our efforts to attempt to identify associations between genetic changes and response to psychotropic medications. The team is always so quick to answer questions and provide pharmacogenetics data in a format that is easy to use- I have no doubt they have enabled us to be much further in our research than we would be without their support.”

Data Deidentification

We deidentify PHI data so it can be used in research.

Our Data Solutions team provides honest broker services for researchers who use Michigan Medicine DataDirect or MiChart for clinical data pull and validation. We de-identify the clinical data files containing identifiers and make them available in our HIPAA-compliant Turbo environment. Importantly, the de-identified data are linkable to any other de-identified multimodal health data available in our Data Platform (including genetic data).

Genetic Data Analysis

Did you know? We release new updates to the MGI database every 6 months!

Our MGI Data Analysts are an important part of the Michigan Genomics Initiative (MGI). As experts at cleaning, curating, and analyzing genetics data, they are responsible for preparing new genetic data before it is added to the MGI database.

“Our research has benefited greatly from the AI & Digital Health Innovation team. We have seamlessly accessed MGI data to incorporate into our genetic studies, and have built a well-established pipeline for this work. Through our collaborations with MGI data analysts, we have leveraged sequencing and genotyping data to deploy new methods for our research, make new discoveries, and disseminate results of the research. Truly a fantastic resource.”

Genetic Data Collection

We have collected samples from over 500,000 diverse Michigan Genomics Initiative (MGI) participants.

Our MGI data collection team is an integral part of the Michigan Genomics Initiative (MGI). The team is focused on expanding and diversifying our MGI database.

They meet with potential subjects to explain the initiative and request consent to donate biospecimens to the initiative. Once consented, these subjects are added to the MGI database.

Janet Houghtby, Team Lead, MGI Data Collection

“The AI & Digital Health Innovation has been a critical resource for my clinical-translation pharmacogenetics research program. With the help of the MGI Data Collection Team, I developed a large cohort of Michigan Medicine patients with linkable treatment outcomes data and genome-wide genetics. Everyone affiliated with University of Michigan with an interest in genetics should consider how they can leverage this unique MGI resources to conduct their research.”
