M-CURES

Overview

M-CURES was developed at the request of Michigan Medicine (MM) leadership to help clinicians identify deteriorating inpatients during the first COVID-19 surge. Michigan Medicine previously had been using the Epic Deterioration Index to support the work of the Rapid Response Team. M-CURES became the use case for broader adoption at MM.

Value Proposition to Michigan Medicine

Identifying hospitalized patients at high risk for deterioration can help change the priority with which patients are treated by the Rapid Response Team.

Digital Health Innovation Support

Digital Health Innovation accelerated the integration and deployment of M-CURES in MiChart. As promising models arise, this pilot helped identify barriers to the deployment and routine evaluation of algorithms, including issues with taking models built in RDW to the Epic Nebula cloud environment. In collaboration with the Clinical Intelligence Committee, the Rapid Response Team, and the Michigan Medicine CPR Committee, the Model Deployment team helped support the development of the clinical operational implementation plan and workflow.
