AI & Digital Health Innovation Partners with University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB)

AI & Digital Health Innovation partnered with the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) on the MIPACT (Michigan Predictive Activity & Clinical Trajectories) study. This partnership enhanced the diversity of our genetic dataset to better reflect the demographic composition of the United States.

Building on this success, the partnership will continue with the MY PART (Michigan and You – Partnering to Advance Research Together) study bringing even more robust enhancements, particularly through the integration of electronic health records (EHRs) from external entities. A key deliverable of this initiative is to pilot the use of the OMOP (Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership) Common Data Model. The goal of OMOP is to standardize the content and structure of observational medical data across clinical domains to allow efficient and evidence-backed analyses that also satisfy the growing requirement for reproducibility in the research community.

This collaboration will not only continue to ensure a more diverse participant pool, encompassing a wider range of racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, but will also enrich the data through the inclusion of external EHRs. These enhanced health records provide a deeper, more comprehensive view of patient histories and behaviors, ultimately strengthening the research findings and improving health outcomes for all populations.
